ROSYTH RAPIST DYLAN CAMERON JAILED FOR SEVEN AND A HALF YEARS
A RAPIST who claimed he was confused about "sexual boundaries" has been locked up for seven and a half years.Dylan Cameron put a woman through a horror five-year ordeal between 2016 and 2021.
The now 28 year-old also stated his age at the time impacted how he behaved - a suggestion which has been slammed by a judge.
Cameron was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.
He had earlier been convicted after a trial in Edinburgh of raping the woman, physically assaulting her as well as engaging in a course of abusive behaviour.
The crimes mainly occurred in Dunfermline.
Lord Stuart said Cameron had been "aggressive, violent and disregarded" his victim.
He said: "You stated that in the absence of her verbalising where the sexual boundaries lay, you continued your behaviour.
I do not accept that those comments are truthful.
I do not accept that you did not know that the actions were not harmful and inappropriate." The judge stated it would be "obvious to any right minded member of society" that it was wrong and that the claims were an attempt to "reduce culpability".
He added: "To suggest that your behaviour was as a result of your age is insulting to the vast majority of young people." The hearing was told Cameron, of Rosyth, had written a letter for the judge to read.
But, Lord Stuart remarked: "You do not mention the woman and what she has suffered or the consequences of your behaviour." Cameron already had a number of convictions.
He had previously been sentenced to a total of five community payback orders - an alternative to prison - and had breached three of them.
The attacker will be supervised for a further three years on his release.
He is now on the sex offenders list and has been banned from going near the victim - both for an indefinite period.
