DALGETY BAY BANKER JAILED FOR RAPING WOMAN IN ROSYTH
A 29-year-old bank worker from Dalgety Bay, Dean Lynch, has been sentenced to jail after being convicted of raping a woman he met on a night out.The incident occurred at a house in Rosyth on November 27, 2022.
Lynch and the victim met during a night out in Dunfermline and subsequently went back to her house to smoke cannabis.
During the evening, Lynch asked her for sex, claiming that intercourse was more enjoyable while under the influence of the drug.
Despite the woman explicitly saying no, Lynch proceeded to have sex with her against her will.
She described feeling scared and violated during the assault, recounting that Lynch tried to pull down her pyjamas and told her, "You’re a lot quieter than what I thought you would be." The victim later sent voice notes to a friend describing the incident as a "bad mistake" and later discussed the assault during a medical appointment.
Lynch claimed he was innocent and that their encounter was consensual, but the jury found him guilty of rape after hearing evidence including WhatsApp voice messages from the victim.
Judge Lord Harrower remanded Lynch in custody before his sentencing scheduled for August 21 at the High Court in Glasgow.
The court heard that Lynch's actions included pressuring the victim for sex and assaulting her when she refused.
The case emerged after a three-day trial in Edinburgh, and the verdict reflects the credible evidence presented, including the victim's testimony and voice recordings.
