MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING PARTNER
A man has received a prison sentence for conducting a disturbing campaign of coercive control against his partner.Tyler Perry, aged 25 and residing on Ermine Street in Huntingdon, initially displayed affection through a phase of excessive attention known as 'love-bombing' when their relationship began in September of the previous year.
However, his behavior soon shifted to become possessive and threatening.
He insisted that the victim spend all her time with him, kept watch over her social media accounts, and dictated her clothing choices, reacting with verbal abuse if she revealed too much skin.
Perry went as far as isolating her from friends and family, warning her that harm would come to her loved ones if she interacted with them.
He also waited outside in his car during her medical visits.
When she expressed a desire to attend appointments alone, he accused her of infidelity despite her providing confirmation of her appointments.
Throughout their relationship, which lasted just under a year with intermittent periods, Perry repeatedly told the victim to end her life and threatened to do the same himself.
He also threatened to share intimate videos of her and monitored her TikTok activity, banning her from following male users.
In June, Perry forcibly took her phone and headphones, yelled in her face, and threatened to damage her vehicle.
In the weeks prior to his arrest in August, he made numerous daily calls from a withheld number.
Later that month, he admitted to engaging in controlling and coercive behavior within an intimate relationship, as well as harassment without violence and threatening to share intimate images or videos of the victim.
On Thursday, 6 November, at Huntingdon Law Courts, Perry was sentenced to a prison term of one year and five months.
