GYMNASTICS COACH JAILED FOR INDECENT IMAGES
A former gymnastics coach has received a prison sentence after admitting to creating child exploitation images.Thomas Verdicchio, aged 24 and from Seathwaite, Huntingdon, was taken into custody in October 2024 following a tip-off from British Gymnastics authorities.
Law enforcement officials confiscated his mobile device, iPad, and laptop, which were found to contain two videos classified as category B and 15 images categorized as category C.
It is important to note that category A is considered the most serious level.
Some of the illicit images discovered on his devices had been digitally altered using "deep fake" technology.
This involved superimposing a child's head onto a nude body.
Verdicchio entered a guilty plea to four charges related to making indecent images of children during a court hearing in October.
On November 20 at Cambridge Crown Court, he was sentenced to nearly two years in prison, specifically one year and ten months.
Additionally, he was ordered to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for ten years and is required to register with police authorities throughout the duration of the order.
