KINROSS MAN INVOLVED IN CAR WINDOW SMASHING AND HARASSMENT AT FIFE PETROL STATION
A Kinross-shire man named Steven Hepburn was involved in an incident at a petrol station in Rosyth where he forcibly opened a woman's car window with his hands, causing it to smash, and then pulled her from her vehicle to look for her mobile phone. The woman had met him at the petrol station following their failed six-month relationship, and he was upset, accusing her of infidelity.
During the altercation, Hepburn reversed his car in front of her, demanded her phone, and when refused, he placed his hands on her car window to open it, leading to it breaking.
He then pulled her from the ground, preventing her from getting up, and she started screaming for help.
A passing motorist and staff intervened as Hepburn looked through her car for the phone.
He left the scene, but police later spoke to him about the incident, as well as about a series of unwanted messages and calls he had sent her over eight days in 2020.
Hepburn's solicitor acknowledged that he broke the window to try to retrieve the phone and mentioned that the woman believed the situation was 'blown out of proportion' and confirmed Hepburn paid for the damage.
Additionally, Hepburn pleaded guilty to engaging in a course of conduct that caused the victim fear or alarm over an eight-day period in 2020, during which he repeatedly sent messages and made calls while in unwanted contact with her at various locations.
He was sentenced to 90 hours of unpaid work.
