DUNFERMLINE MAN STEPHEN WILLIAMS ADMITS TO MULTIPLE RAPE CHARGES IN SHOCKING CASE
A man from Dunfermline, Stephen Williams, aged 32, has confessed to a series of disturbing sexual assaults on two women, following his arrest and subsequent police interrogation. The case was brought before the High Court in Edinburgh, where details of the allegations and Williams's admissions were revealed.According to court proceedings, Williams was detained by police officers and taken in for questioning on September 10, 2021. Prosecutor Eric Robertson outlined that during the interview, Williams admitted to engaging in sexual misconduct with both victims at various locations within Fife, spanning from April 2009 to September 2021. The court heard that Williams did not deny the allegations but instead acknowledged his inappropriate actions.
Mr. Robertson explained that during the police interview, Williams admitted to touching one of the women in areas he should not have while she was asleep. He also confessed to having sexual relations with the second woman despite her saying no. Williams, who is employed as a meat packer, pleaded guilty to three counts of rape, acknowledging his guilt in these serious offenses.
The court detailed the nature of the assaults, starting with the first victim, a 31-year-old woman, whom Williams targeted on multiple occasions in 2009 and 2010. The court was told that he raped her on several occasions and also sexually assaulted her while she was asleep. Prosecutor Robertson emphasized that at no point did the victim give her consent for Williams to have sex with her, especially when she was unconscious.
Further, the court heard about the second victim, a 30-year-old woman, whom Williams assaulted non-consensually. The assault involved non-consensual anal sex, which left her injured. Despite the injuries and the assault, Williams continued to sexually abuse her until she eventually reported the incident to the police. The victim contacted authorities on September 6, 2021, leading to the collection of sufficient evidence to charge Williams.
During the hearing, defence solicitor advocate Gordon Martin stated that Williams was a first-time offender and requested that the court consider a background report before sentencing. He indicated that mitigation would be reserved until a later date and did not request bail at this stage. The judge, Lord Sandison, remanded Williams in custody until his sentencing, which is scheduled to take place at the High Court in Inverness on October 31.
