MAN RAPED GIRL, 13, AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTED ANOTHER
A man has received a prison sentence after committing acts of rape and sexual assault against two teenage girls.
In May 2023, Shane Philbrook contacted his first victim, who was just 13 years old, via Snapchat.
Two days after their initial online interaction, when they met in person for the first time, Philbrook subjected her to rape and sexual assault.
Approximately nine months later, in February of the following year, Philbrook assaulted a second girl, aged 16, at a youth club.
After a trial at Liverpool Crown Court, the 19-year-old resident of Railway Street, Nelson, was convicted of multiple charges including rape, sexual assault by penetration, and five counts of sexual assault by touching.
He appeared in court on Thursday, May 22, to receive his sentencing.
Philbrook was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
Additionally, he was issued a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and mandated to register as a sex offender for life.
