MAN IMPRISONED FOR ATTACK ON EX AND EX'S MUM
An individual from Oxfordshire has been given a prison sentence following an assault on his former partner and her mother, resulting in multiple injuries.Laurence Whittaker, residing on Cowley Road in Oxford, was sentenced to a total of eight years in prison at Oxford Crown Court on Monday, March 16.
The sentences comprise two consecutive terms for his conduct on January 10, 2025.
He received a six-year sentence for section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against Lindsay Webber, the mother of his ex-partner.
He was also sentenced to two years for assault causing actual bodily harm to Jessica Clements, his former partner.
The court additionally imposed restraining orders lasting ten years for both women.
At the hearing, the 34-year-old appeared at ease, smiling at those present before Judge Maria Lamb took her seat.
Previously, he admitted to two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm against Ms Webber and Ms Clements, along with one count of assault by beating against Ms Webber.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on Ms Webber, having been acquitted of attempted murder by a jury on February 5.
The incident occurred at Ms Webber’s residence in Burton Close, Abingdon, where Whittaker was also residing.
The assault took place shortly after they returned from a gathering at the Loose Cannon Brewery in Abingdon.
The conflict was sparked when Ms Webber called Whittaker by the wrong name, which he believed was an indirect reference to a man he suspected of having a romantic involvement with his ex-partner, her daughter.
Ms Webber suffered injuries including a broken nose, bruising around her eyes, a laceration on her nose, and chest pain upon medical examination.
Additionally, Whittaker had forced his fingers down her throat, making breathing difficult.
During the incident, four children, including three of Whittaker’s sons, were present in the house.
Ms Clements explained that the ordeal affected all of the children, particularly her eldest son.
