ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SEX OFFENDER RELEASED DESPITE DEPORTATION ORDER
An illegal immigrant sex offender has been released from jail despite being subject to a deportation order, a court has heard.
Dunfermline Sheriff Court was informed about this by the solicitor representing 50-year-old Shahid Hassan.
Hassan, who was not present at the hearing due to admitting a breach of a court order, is now residing in Cardenden.
He had been placed on a community payback order after committing an offence on March 16, 2022.
The court was told Hassan approached a female at Kirkcaldy bus station, Hill Street, and made a sexually inappropriate comment.
His solicitor, Kerr Sneddon, stated that Hassan had recently been sentenced at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to two years in jail, but was released early due to time served on remand.
The sentencing judge also issued a deportation order.
Despite this, Hassan was no longer in custody and was living in Cardenden.
Mr.
Sneddon mentioned that Hassan had lived illegally in the UK for around 20 years and was on a sex offenses prevention order for five years as well as on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
The court ordered the revocation of the community payback and made no further orders.
It was mentioned that Hassan had been on remand since December 2022.
The court remarked that one would hope something is done about his immigration status.
