TEENAGER JAILED FOR RAPING SLEEPING WOMAN IN CLYDEBANK
Ross Wright, 19, sexually assaulted the female in a house in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, on May 24 last year.On Monday, at the High Court in Edinburgh, temporary judge Kenneth Maciver told Wright that he had no other option but to jail him.
Wright will also be supervised by the authorities for 21 months following his release from jail.
A prisoner of HMP Barlinnie, Wright was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow last month of raping the 25-year-old woman.
On that occasion, the court heard how the woman and friends had been at an 18th birthday party which the accused also attended.
At the end of the night, the woman went to sleep in a bedroom of the house and was woken up by Wright having sex with her.
In evidence he said that she had been awake and had consented to sex with him.
At the time of the offence Wright was out on early release from detention on a serious assault charge.
He was given 16 months in March 2013 for attacking David Fisher in a kebab shop.
