EASTLEIGH MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING 7-YEAR-OLD AND PLAYING NAKED CARD GAME
July2025: A man responsible for sexually assaulting a young boy and taking part in naked card games with him has been handed a prison sentence. The court was informed that Robert Grant, aged 59 and from Eastleigh, convinced a seven-year-old to join a game in which both of them would remove their clothing if they lost.
Grant ultimately ended the game while unclothed, leaving the boy stunned at the sight of him without clothes.
The boy’s mother described how these incidents have marred her son’s childhood and expressed her hope for his eventual recovery.
Grant subsequently admitted to charges of exposure and two counts of assaulting a boy under 13 by touch.
The court also revealed that Grant sexually assaulted the boy in Eastleigh the previous year, touching him over his trousers and offering gifts while claiming to be his friend.
The judge remarked that Grant’s actions targeted a particularly vulnerable individual and characterized his behavior as indicative of a sexual interest in children.
During sentencing, Judge Christopher Parker KC sentenced Grant to three years and four months in prison, imposed a five-year sexual harm prevention order, and issued an indefinite restraining order against the victim.
It was also disclosed that at the time of the offenses, Grant was awaiting test results for bowel cancer but received a clean bill of health soon after.
The judge emphasized the danger Grant poses to children due to his demonstrated sexual interest.
