HAMPSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR FIVE YEARS FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING CHILD
A HAMPSHIRE man has been sentenced to five years in jail for sexually abusing a girl.Adam Danby, 31, of Southampton Road, Eastleigh, pleaded guilty at magistrate’s court to three counts of sexually abusing a girl, whose identity cannot be reported.
He was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on Monday, April 13.
Danby kissed the girl at least ten times, touched her intimately the same amount of times, and there were at least five instances of him putting her hand on him during an indecent act.
The offences happened over a period of four years, from 2013 to 2017.
The victim was under ten when the abuse started.
Speaking for the prosecution, Edward Culver said that the abuse had caused the victim to suffer seizures, panic attacks, and develop anxiety and depression.
Reading from the victim’s personal statement, Mr Culver said: “The impact is one that will follow her for the rest of her life.” Appearing in court wearing a black suit and shirt to represent himself, Danby said: "I am really disappointed with my actions in the past and I will not do anything like this again.
I am really sorry.” Sentencing, Judge Adam Feest said that Danby’s actions had caused the victim “severe psychological harm.” He said: “I have heard the victim’s statement, which sets out the serious psychological harm that she has suffered because of your actions.
She has developed anxiety and depression that she suffers to this day, alongside seizures and that nightmares she experiences.
These offences are so serious that immediate imprisonment is justified.” Danby was sentenced to five years in prison.
He must also be on the sex offenders registry for the rest of his life and is also the subject of a life long sexual harm prevention order.
