MAN GIVEN SIX LIFE SENTENCES FOR RAPING TWO CHILDREN IN EASTLEIGH
A man responsible for devastating the lives of two young children has received six consecutive life sentences for his heinous crimes. The victims, comprising a boy and a girl, along with their parents, delivered statements that were read aloud by prosecutor Simon Foster.
One parent expressed, "Words cannot fully convey how deeply this has impacted our lives.
The emotional upheaval has become an endless nightmare.
He has destroyed the happy, loving lives of our children.
I hope that justice will allow us to start a new chapter as a family." Another parent added, "Watching what this has done to my children has been heart-breaking.
Our family will never be the same, and I feel powerless." Judge Gary Lucie handed down the sentences at Southampton Crown Court after a jury found Bond guilty during the trial.
The judge remarked that Bond displayed a 'complete lack of remorse' for his actions toward the young boy and girl during six separate incidents in Eastleigh in 2018, including an incident in a public toilet.
The courtroom was filled with over 25 attendees during the emotional sentencing.
Judge Lucie emphasized that Bond represents 'the highest level of danger to children,' voicing concern that he could pose further risks in the future.
Bond was sentenced to six life terms with a minimum of 16 years before he might be considered for parole.
Additionally, an indefinite restraining order was issued to prevent him from contacting the victims or their family.
A family member commented, "He can rot in hell.
No sentence can change how it has affected the kids.
He should never be released to the public, because he is a danger to kids.
They need to throw away the key.
It has affected us as a whole family.
We found out when they were putting up the Christmas tree.
Christmas isn't the same for us anymore.
It is a dreaded time.
I am glad the judge made an example of him."
