MAN WHO FILMED HIMSELF RAPING CHILD JAILED FOR 16 YEARS
A man who recorded himself abusing a child faces over a decade of imprisonment.Christopher Dwan perpetrated his crimes against a sleeping girl.
The Southampton Crown Court heard that he committed 30 sexual offences against young girls over the course of a year.
Dwan, aged 40, appeared in court on October 3 for sentencing following the discovery of his crimes earlier in the year.
It was revealed during proceedings that Dwan took photographs and videos of a girl in a bathroom; he also recorded himself performing a sexual act near her on another occasion.
His offences included filming himself raping the girl and encouraging her to touch him with her hand, all while she was asleep.
These happened between October and December 2024, with additional offences at the start of 2025.
He was also caught on camera filming under a girl’s skirt.
The police uncovered his crimes after seizing and examining his phone in June 2025.
Six victims were identified in relation to this case, according to Hampshire police.
The crimes took place from February 2024 to June 2025 while Dwan was living in Eastleigh.
He admitted to multiple charges, including two counts of oral rape of a girl aged 13-15, six counts of sexual activity with a girl in that age range, and inciting a girl of 13-15 to perform sexual acts.
He also pleaded guilty to sending sexual messages to a minor, causing a minor to view sexual images, and various counts of creating and sharing indecent images of children.
Additional charges encompassed operating recording devices under clothing without consent and filming under clothing to observe someone privately.
Dwan was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Chloe Daniels, a police investigator from the Internet Child Abuse Team, stated her satisfaction that justice has been done, commending the victims’ resilience.
She acknowledged their support during investigations and court processes, recognizing the profound effects on them.
Daniels hopes the sentencing helps victims move forward, despite not undoing their trauma, by ensuring Dwan remains incarcerated and unable to harm children.
He is also subject to a sexual harm prevention order and will need to register with police indefinitely.
After release, he will serve a further six-year term under supervision.
