MONSTER ON RUN FROM JAIL RAPED
A sex beast raped a 16-year-old virgin while he was on the run from jail. The High Court in Glasgow today heard that Robert Foye, who was serving a 10-year sentence for attempting to murder a policeman, was allowed out to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
He failed to return, and six days later raped the schoolgirl.
In court today, Foye pled guilty to the crime, FROM PAGE 1 which took place on August 24 last year on a path skirting a wood in Cumbernauld, between the Village and Seafar.
The victim was walking home in broad daylight after collecting new contact lenses in the town centre when Foye approached her.
Foye, 28, asked for the time, but she said she didn't know and continued walking along the path.
Seconds later he seized her, put his hand over her mouth and dragged her into the woods, punching her several times on the head, eye, nose and mouth.
When she screamed, Foye ordered her to shut up and pressed his hand tightly round her mouth.
The girl pleaded with Foye not to have sex with her, but he raped her, then walked away.
He told the girl, who was covered in bruises and scratches, not to leave until he was gone.
She ran away through a field hoping he wouldn't see her.
Foye was arrested the next day and, although he denied being in the area, forensic samples from the victim matched his DNA profile.
Judge Lady Smith described Foye's crime as "appalling".
She called for reports to help determine whether he should be given a lifelong restriction order so he could be monitored for the rest of his life.
He will be sentenced next month.
The victim, a bright pupil at a fee-paying school, was left so traumatised that she found it hard to return to her studies.
She was now back part-time, and was still receiving counselling.
She was in court today as the rapist apologised through his counsel.
Mr Paul McBride said Foye had been living rough and drinking all day when he raped her.
He said no right-thinking person, including the accused, would have anything but "revulsion" for the crime and sympathy for the victim.
The lawyer added: "He is appalled at what he has done.
It may be no consolation to her, but he wishes me to express his regret." Foye began a one-man crime wave in his home town of Cumbernauld, stealing cars when he was only 16.
At the time of the rape, he was a prisoner in Castle Huntly near Dundee, having served more than five years of a 10-year sentence.
It was imposed in 2002 for attempting to murder a detective who challenged him over a stolen car.
Two police forces were alerted to hunt for him when he failed to return to the open prison.
He began living rough in woods between Cumbernauld and Seafar, and was prowling about the area days later when he spotted his victim.
