CUMBERNAULD TIKTOKER LEIGH SUTHERLAND JAILED FOR NINE YEARS FOR KILLING PENSIONER IN CRASH
Scots TikTok creator Leigh Sutherland has been jailed for nine years after he was found guilty of death by dangerous driving in Cumbernauld.
The 31-year-old ploughed into a Peugeot 108 driven by Margaret Allan at the Condorrat Ring Road on June 15, 2023.
The 77-year-old was transferred to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and a 10-year-old boy who was passenger in the Peugeot was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital Monklands for treatment.
Sadly, Margaret never recovered from her injuries and died on July 6.
Sutherland - who was driving a Ford Mondeo - had been banned from driving for six months just one week before the fatal collision and tried to leave the scene without giving his details to police officers.
The TikToker appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 where he was found guilty of causing the death of Margaret Allan.
He was remanded in custody pending sentencing on December 2.
Today, January 9, Sutherland was sentenced to nine years in prison and disqualified from driving for 13-and-a-half years.
Sergeant Andy Coutts, North Lanarkshire Roads Policing said: "Our thoughts remain with Margaret's family, who have been dignified and strong throughout this tragic ordeal." "Sutherland's actions showed a blatant disregard for other road users and the law, and since the incident he has showed no remorse."
