PAUL TUMBER FROM BUCKIE AND PETERBOROUGH CAUGHT SELLING TEDDIES AT SURFLEET TOY FAIR DESPITE SEX OFFENDER STATUS
In a disturbing development, Paul Tumber, a convicted sex offender originally from Buckie and Peterborough, has been spotted actively participating in the sale of teddy bears at toy fairs held in Surfleet, despite his criminal history and ongoing restrictions.As of May 2012, Tumber is residing on Seas End Road in Surfleet, Lincolnshire, where he continues to be involved in activities that raise serious concerns among local parents and community members.
Back in April 2012, reports emerged that Tumber was seen at toy fairs across the UK, helping his wife sell plush mohair and alpaca bears.
These events are typically attended by families and children, making his presence particularly controversial given his past.
Paul Tumber, now 42 years old, was convicted in 2003 of molesting a nine-year-old girl in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
His sentencing included a prison term of four years and nine months.
The court also mandated that he be placed on the sex offenders register for life, emphasizing the severity of his crimes.
The judge described the victim’s experience as one of “extreme terror” that persisted for over a year.
Furthermore, Tumber is legally prohibited from residing with anyone under the age of 16 unless authorities determine he no longer poses a threat.
Despite these restrictions, he has been observed mingling with children at toy fairs, often accompanied by his partner Nicola, who runs an online business called Buckie Bears.
A concerned parent, who has been monitoring Tumber’s movements, expressed alarm over his presence at events frequented by children.
The parent stated, “The public needs warning that this convicted paedophile is now helping to sell teddy bears.
He is on the sex offenders register and he should not be at places where parents take kids.
No way can that be right.” In an attempt to address these concerns, The Sun confronted Tumber at a stall during the Toy Collector’s Fair held at the NEC in Birmingham.
During the encounter, Tumber denied being a threat to children, asserting, “It is my wife’s business.
I drive her to fairs.
Sometimes she goes for a cigarette break and I sit here.
Everybody knows about the conviction.
I don’t think it’s inappropriate me being here.” His past convictions include four counts of indecent assault, which he admitted to at Peterborough Crown Court.
The judge described the case as “an extremely bad case,” highlighting the seriousness of his offenses.
It is believed that Paul Tumber and Nicola have since relocated from Buckie in northern Scotland to Surfleet, Lincolnshire, following widespread circulation of his criminal history on Facebook by concerned mothers.
The community remains vigilant, questioning the appropriateness of his involvement in activities that could expose children to potential harm.
