DUNFERMLINE: BUS DRIVER STALKED AT WORK AND ONLINE BY PASSENGER
A Dunfermline man stalked a female bus driver for more than four years.Paul Rodgers had first met the woman when he was a passenger on her bus.
He had later sent her abusive messages on social media before going to her workplace with flowers saying he wanted to apologise for posting about her.
Rodgers, 51, of Robertson Road, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He previously admitted that between March 12, 2018, and July 13 last year at Stagecoach bus depot, St Leonards Street, and elsewhere, he engaged in a course of conduct which caused the woman fear alarm, attended at her place of work, provide gifts, added her on social media and posted about her on social media.
Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “He didn’t necessarily mean to cause her alarm and it was occasional behaviour between those dates.” He said his client took medication for mental health issues.
Sheriff Susan Duff imposed a restriction of liberty order for five months and a one-year non-harassment order.
She warned Rodgers: “If she’s driving the bus, you can’t get on it.” Rodgers said he realised that and told the sheriff he had now stopped using Facebook as it was “very dangerous”.
