PAUL COLQUHOUN'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN CLYDEBANK AND GLASGOW REVEALED

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local communities, Paul Colquhoun, a 49-year-old man from Wellmeadow Street in Paisley, has been convicted of a series of heinous sexual offenses spanning over a decade. The crimes, which took place across Clydebank, Lochwinnoch, and Glasgow, include the rape of a young girl, multiple assaults on women, and the sexual abuse of teenage girls.

Colquhoun was sentenced in August 2017 to an eight-year prison term after a lengthy trial at the High Court in Glasgow. The court heard disturbing details about his predatory behavior, which began in the mid-1990s and continued into the early 2000s. Prosecutors presented evidence that Colquhoun had lured an 11-year-old girl, who was a primary school student at the time, by giving her alcohol before subjecting her to a brutal rape. The attack reportedly occurred at a house in Clydebank sometime between December 1999 and December 2000. The court was told that Colquhoun had attempted to assault the girl on multiple occasions at different locations, including another house in Clydebank and in Lochwinnoch.

The young girl testified that Colquhoun had bought her a zipper jacket and would often drive her around in his car while he was delivering takeaway meals. These seemingly innocent gestures masked his sinister intentions, which culminated in the assault when she was intoxicated. The court also heard about other victims, including two women who were attacked while they slept. One woman was raped at a Clydebank residence between October 1994 and October 1996; she woke up during the assault and told Colquhoun to stop, but he ignored her pleas. Another woman was raped at a flat in Glasgow between May and August 2006.

In addition to these assaults, Colquhoun was found guilty of sexually abusing two teenage girls. The abuse took place at a house in Clydebank between 1994 and 1999, during which he also showed them pornographic images. The girls recounted that he would drive them around in his delivery vehicle from the Clydebank takeaway, further exploiting his position of trust.

Throughout the trial, Colquhoun maintained his innocence, claiming that all witnesses were lying. Despite his denial, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him on all charges. His sentencing was deferred until August 22 at the High Court in Edinburgh, where Judge John Morris QC ordered that Colquhoun be placed on the sex offenders register. The judge emphasized the severity of his crimes and the impact on the victims, underscoring the importance of monitoring his future conduct.
