RUGBY MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR BRUTAL WIFE’S MURDER
An "extremely controlling" man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his estranged wife at her Warwickshire flat.
Owen Anthony Williams, 51, had denied killing Shana Tanesia Cover, 34.
Her body was discovered at her home in Morton Gardens, Rugby, on 21 August 2014, after she had not been seen for a week.
A jury at Warwick Crown Court found Williams guilty of her murder.
He was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 22 years.
Police stated that Williams had attended the flat during the week before her body was found and had attacked her, causing serious injuries to her neck.
Detective Superintendent James Essex, who led the investigation, described Williams as "an extremely controlling and dangerous individual," and welcomed today's sentence.
The investigation revealed Williams' violent attack, and the court's decision reflects the severity of his actions.
The victim’s family expressed relief and gratitude for the justice served, with her mother saying, "Our thoughts today are with Shana's family and friends; nobody should have to lose a loved one in such a way."
