RUGBY MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING ELDERLY WOMEN IN THEIR HOMES
The offender, Richard Saillet, a 64-year-old man from Rugby, has been convicted of a series of disturbing sexual assaults on elderly women in their own homes.Saillet targeted four vulnerable women across the Midlands, including locations in Halesowen, Botley, Bromsgrove, and Greens Norton, Northamptonshire, during March to May of 2016.
He repeatedly trespassed on their properties with malicious intent to sexually assault them.
The offences included forcibly entering homes, pushing past victims, and in one case, using violence when a victim tried to resist.
Saillet's actions were premeditated, as he called one victim claiming to discuss a survey before forcing himself into her home and assaulting her in her son's bedroom.
During the last attack, Saillet used violence and became angry when the victim resisted him.
These crimes were committed because of the victims' vulnerability, revealing his ruthless and calculated nature.
He was arrested in May 2016 and later pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault on females over 16.
His sentencing at Oxford Crown Court resulted in an eight-year prison term, with an additional two years on license.
The Crown Prosecution Service described him as a "ruthless and dangerous" predator.
Detective Constable Richard Lewis from Thames Valley Police highlighted the efforts of multiple agencies in bringing Saillet to justice, emphasizing that DNA evidence and phone billing investigations were crucial in his capture.
