OMARI COHEN FROM SOLIHULL CAUGHT IN MIDLAND SEXUAL ASSAULTS

A man named Omari Cohen, residing in Solihull, has been linked to a series of disturbing sexual assault incidents that took place across various streets in the Midlands. The incidents involved two separate victims, a teenage girl and an adult woman, both of whom were subjected to frightening and invasive encounters.

According to court reports, Cohen followed and physically assaulted both victims in different locations, making sexually explicit remarks during each encounter. His actions were captured on CCTV footage, which played a crucial role in identifying him and bringing him to justice. The footage showed Cohen's suspicious behavior and helped authorities establish a clear link to the crimes.

Judge Peter Carr addressed the court, emphasizing the severity of Cohen's actions. He stated, "I have no doubt at all that at the time this happened both of these ladies not only felt very uncomfortable but were frightened at the prospects of what might happen next." The judge highlighted the distress caused to the victims and underscored the importance of appropriate sentencing.

Further concern was raised by the judge regarding Cohen's previous conduct. It was revealed that in February of the previous year, Cohen had sexually assaulted two other victims on the street. Despite this, he was only given a caution, which many see as a lenient response considering the repeated nature of his offenses.

In the recent case, Cohen, aged 29 and from Wagon Lane, Solihull, pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual assault. His sentencing involved a community order for three years, during which he will be monitored and required to adhere to certain conditions. Additionally, Cohen was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes.

Prosecutor Aliya Rashid provided details of the incidents. She explained that in May this year, a 15-year-old girl was on her way to school near her home in Tamworth when she noticed Cohen staring at her in a local newsagents. Cohen then began making inappropriate comments about her appearance. The teenager, feeling increasingly nervous, was approached by Cohen who offered her PS20 if she showed him her "boobs." When she refused, Cohen escalated his behavior by attempting to grab her, ultimately groping her after persistently asking for sexual favors.

Eighteen days later, Cohen approached and walked alongside a 28-year-old woman in Acocks Green. After making lewd comments, he sexually assaulted her as well. The court heard these details as part of the evidence presented against him.

Defense lawyer Timothy Harrington acknowledged Cohen’s awareness of his problematic behavior and expressed that he was willing to seek help to address his issues. Despite this, the court emphasized the need for a firm response to such serious offenses, given the impact on the victims and the community.
