FATHER JAILED FOR DAUGHTER MURDER
A parent who murdered his teenage daughter by stabbing her and then transported her unconscious body for ten hours has been handed aminimum 20-year prison sentence.Gary Fisher, aged 48, was convicted of killing 17-year-old Chanelle Sasha Jones in a parking lot of a pub in Cardigan.
During the trial, Fisher acknowledged responsibility for manslaughter but denied committing murder, claiming that the act was part of a suicide pact.
The court was informed that Fisher, resident of Solihull in Birmingham, carried out the killing at the Angel Hotel’s parking area last August.
He alleged that his daughter’s desire to end her life stemmed from a rape she had suffered in 2006.
After stabbing her, Fisher wrapped her body in a sleeping bag, adjusted her seat to a reclined position in his silver Ford Fiesta, and drove for hours with her body inside the vehicle.
On the way, he passed her home, where her mother, Jayne Jones, saw her.
Fisher later evaded police when his car was spotted near Aberaeron, prompting officers to deploy a stinger device.
The jury deliberated for just one hour before finding him guilty of murder.
The trial also revealed details of family disagreements, including an argument earlier that summer when Chanelle preferred to be with her boyfriend rather than her father.
It was also disclosed that Fisher had given a hunting knife and a lock knife to his 15-year-old son.
Fisher and Chanelle’s mother, Jayne Jones, originally met in the Midlands and had three children before separating.
They relocated to Cardigan, but Fisher returned to Birmingham after the relationship ended.
He re-established contact with his children five years prior through their grandmother.
