THUG WITH 25 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CALLOUTS STRANGLED LATEST GIRLFRIEND AND HURT HER DOG
A man with a history of 25 domestic violence incidents over five years has been sentenced to prison after strangling his current girlfriend and injuring her dog.Micah Williams became involved in an argument with his partner at Oriel House tower block in Solihull shortly before 4:30 p.m.
on June 22, prompting a neighbor to call the police.
During the altercation, he pulled the dog's leash from his partner’s grip, causing the animal to lift off the ground and subsequently run away.
Williams then took hold of his partner by the neck inside the stairwell of the flat complex.
The 36-year-old, who resides on Hampson Close in Sparkbrook, pleaded guilty to charges of strangulation and animal cruelty.
He received a 17-month prison sentence and was banned from owning animals for three years and six months at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, September 8.
The victim did not support the prosecution, describing him as the "love of my life" and stating, "He makes me feel safe." However, the incident was captured on CCTV, which "speaks for itself," according to Judge Sarah Buckingham.
She also highlighted his prior conviction for assaulting a former partner by slapping her and dragging her out of a vehicle.
While she clarified that the court was not sentencing him for that offense, Judge Buckingham noted that it reveals insights into his character, conduct, and the danger he may pose.
Defending him, Chan Shoker expressed that Williams felt "despair and revulsion" over his actions.
He explained that his client has faced "challenges" such as Autism, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Asperger’s syndrome, though he admitted there was no medical documentation to confirm these diagnoses.
In handing down the sentence, Judge Buckingham stated: "It is evident to me that you have a violent temper, that you have difficulty resolving conflicts with female partners, and that you have a serious problem with alcohol." She warned that unless he addresses these issues, his offending behavior is likely to continue.
