DUNFERMLINE MAN NATHAN MCGUIRK APPEARS IN COURT OVER ABUSIVE BEHAVIOUR
A man from Dunfermline has made an appearance in court to face charges of abusive and controlling behaviour directed towards his former partner.
Nathan McGuirk, aged 24 and residing on Bute Crescent, appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that between January 7 and 23, at a property in Dunfermline, he engaged in a pattern of abusive conduct towards his partner.
The court was told he repeatedly behaved aggressively and made offensive remarks towards her.
Additionally, he was known to check her phone repeatedly to monitor her interactions with others.
Depute fiscal Catherine Stevenson explained that the couple had been in a relationship for over a year and share a child.
She stated, 'During the relationship, McGuirk continually referred to her by derogatory names, which made her feel worthless.' Stevenson also added that he was constantly checking her phone and became extremely jealous whenever she interacted with males.
Defence solicitor David McLaughlin mentioned that the relationship has now ended.
Following the hearing, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis imposed a community payback order with an 18-month supervision period.
