DUNFERMLINE WOMAN IN COURT AFTER STARVING DOG IN TOILET
A starving dog was rescued by police after being found in a shocking condition. The pet had been neglected by its owner, Michelle McPhee, of Beath View, Dunfermline, over a three-month period.
She gave insufficient food and water, leaving the dog severely underweight with a matted coat with urine and faeces.
She appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and admitted causing her unnecessary suffering by failing to provide adequate food and water, leading to her being severely underweight.
Police found the dog in a toilet with no access to food or water, starving and dehydrated with ribs visible.
The dog was taken to a vet and found to be 'really undernourished' with a body condition score of 2/9.
McPhee stated, 'I’m going to kill my laddie' when charged.
The dog is now in SSPCA care and will not be returned.
The sheriff imposed a four-month restriction of liberty order, with a five-year disqualification from keeping animals.
