CUMNOCK MAN CHARGED WITH MAKING SEXUAL COMMENTS TO GIRL, 15, FAILS TO APPEAR IN COURT
A man accused of making sexual comments towards a 15-year-old girl in Cumnock has failed to show up for a court hearing.The incident is alleged to have occurred at the Tanyard bus station on January 7, 2025.
According to reports, the 32-year-old, identified as Mark Caldwell, faces multiple charges including indecent communications, assault, and threatening behaviour.
Caldwell is accused of shouting at the girl and making sexual references during the incident.
A warrant was issued for his arrest after he did not appear when his case was called at Ayr Sheriff Court.
It is also alleged that he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards the girl, causing her fear and alarm, and made offensive and homophobic remarks, with the Crown claiming the offence was aggravated by sexual prejudice.
Caldwell further faces an accusation of assaulting a man at the same location by pushing and punching him, causing him to fall onto a bench.
The alleged offences took place while Caldwell was on bail granted at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on November 8, 2024.
Caldwell, who resides on Lanehead Terrace, New Cumnock, did not appear at Ayr Sheriff Court, prompting the sheriff to grant a warrant for his arrest.
