MARK ARCHBOLD SHILDON PERVERT SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS FOR ABUSE OF TWO YOUNG GIRLS IN COUNTY DURHAM
In a case that has spanned decades, Mark Archbold, a resident of Shildon in County Durham, was brought to justice for heinous crimes committed against two young girls. The disturbing series of events came to light after the victims, who were just eight and ten years old at the time, endured years of abuse that they only recently found the courage to disclose.Archbold, who was 18 years old during the period of the offences, was found guilty of multiple sexual offences against the two girls. The abuse reportedly took place over a span of five years, beginning in 1987, when the victims were very young. The court heard that Archbold had worked at Jewitts abattoir in Pennymoor, where he allegedly groomed and then sexually assaulted the young girls.
The victims, who had been threatened into silence by Archbold, took a staggering 25 years to come forward and report the abuse. Their bravery in speaking out after such a long period was a pivotal moment in bringing the offender to justice.
Judge Robert Adams presided over the case at Newcastle Crown Court. After considering the evidence and the gravity of the offences, he sentenced Archbold to eight years in prison. The judge emphasized that Archbold would be required to serve only half of that sentence before being eligible for release. Additionally, Archbold was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure intended to protect the community and prevent further harm.
Archbold’s release was noted in March 2018, marking the end of his incarceration, but the legal consequences of his actions continue to follow him. The case highlights the importance of perseverance and courage in seeking justice for victims of sexual abuse, especially when the crimes occurred many years in the past.
