CUMBERNAULD MAN ESCAPES JAIL AFTER POSSESSING OVER 700 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A Cumbernauld man named Kyle Dakers has been involved in a serious case where he was found to possess more than 700 child abuse photos and videos. The materials included images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children from just weeks old to 17 years old, with over 300 in the most severe category.
Some images also depicted bestiality.
When police arrived at his home on Achray Road with a search warrant, they detained him just as he was about to enter a taxi.
Devices seized from the residence contained the abusive content.
The court was told that specialist officers recovered 766 images and videos showing the sexual abuse of children.
Sheriff Paul Haran indicated that a jail sentence was a strong possibility, especially considering Dakers’ lack of prior convictions.
However, after reviewing background reports, he was sentenced to a three-year social work supervision order instead of jail time and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for three years.
Dakers admitted to downloading and possessing the indecent images between February 2015 and July the previous year.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat online child abuse and the importance of law enforcement in protecting vulnerable victims.
