OBSESSED RAPIST JAILED FOR ATTACK ON FORMER LOVER
A 48-year-old man named Kenneth MacDonald was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison after being convicted of raping a woman aged 46 in a brutal, prolonged attack.During the sentencing, Lord Dawson stated, "This was a horrific assault on a woman, unlike anything I have encountered in my entire legal career." MacDonald admitted to tearing the victim’s nightdress, punching her in the face, brandishing a knife and making threats, including tying her to the bed.
Before repeatedly raping her, he threatened to gag her with tights, threatened to harm her private parts, and also threatened to kill her.
The incident occurred early in the morning after guests had left a party at the victim’s home in Rosyth, Fife, on May 2 this year, around 5:30 am.
The victim, who was hysterical, managed to escape five hours later, running into the street and calling for police assistance.
When questioned, MacDonald confessed to the rape and provided a detailed account.
He told police, "I was not myself.
I was like an animal." A court hearing revealed that MacDonald, a marine plumbing foreman, had traveled from Northumberland to Rosyth for work, leaving his wife and young child at their family home.
MacDonald and the victim first met at a nightclub in Rosyth in September 1997.
Their sexual relationship ended in February after the woman experienced pain during intercourse.
Prosecutor Frank Mulholland explained, "Initially, he accepted this and told her he did not want to lose her as a friend.
But over time, his obsession with resuming their sexual relationship grew." On May 1, after a night out at a local club with friends, they returned to her house for a party.
Alcohol was consumed that evening, and MacDonald asked if he could come to bed with her.
She refused and went to put on a nightdress; upon her return, MacDonald was undressed, and he then raped her.
