KEITH GEE FROM GAINESBOROUGH AND LINCOLN JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the local communities of Gainsborough and Lincoln, Keith Gee, a 57-year-old man with no prior criminal record, was sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to possessing a significant collection of indecent images of children.The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the extent of Gee’s offenses and the methods he employed to conceal his illicit activities.
According to the evidence presented at Lincoln Crown Court, police officers seized Gee’s computer equipment following an investigation into his activities.
It was discovered that Gee had been making covert recordings using a video camera, which added a disturbing dimension to the case.
The police search of his residence in Gainsborough uncovered a total of 299 indecent images of children stored across two devices.
Specifically, 259 images were found on a laptop computer, while an additional 40 images were located on a Dell computer used by Gee.
Prosecutor Robert Underwood explained that the images varied in severity, with 246 classified at the lowest level of seriousness, and one image categorized at the highest level of depravity.
The court was informed that Gee had no previous convictions, which made the case particularly troubling given the nature of his offenses.
The charges against him included two counts of taking indecent photographs of children, four counts of making such images, and possession of the total 299 images.
Additionally, Gee pleaded guilty to possessing an extreme pornographic image found on a disc, further illustrating the disturbing content involved.
The offenses spanned a period from July 2012 to March of the current year, highlighting a sustained period of illicit activity.
During the court hearing, it was revealed that Gee was employed by a restaurant chain for nearly two decades but had become overwhelmed by stress and depression, which contributed to his withdrawal from work.
His defense lawyer, Gillian Batts, acknowledged the gravity of Gee’s actions, stating that he was fully aware of the seriousness of what he had done.
She added that Gee constantly reflects on his behavior, and during police interviews, he initially denied the allegations, offering explanations that were ultimately unconvincing.
However, he later admitted guilt in court.
In delivering his sentence, Recorder Mark Wall QC emphasized the need to protect the public from individuals like Gee.
He ordered that Gee be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for the next ten years and imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order to further safeguard the community.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of child abuse images, and the serious consequences faced by those found guilty of such heinous crimes.
