FORMER ST JOHN AMBULANCE WORKER HAD 2,000 INDECENT IMAGES
A paedophile who worked for St John Ambulance and who had more than 2,000 indecent images of children, including babies and infants, has avoided jail.
During the sentencing hearing on Friday, January 16, the court heard the 46-year-old was in possession of the images over a 20-year period while he was living in Sonning Common, Oxford Crown Court.
He pleaded guilty to possessing 839 category A images, 392 category B images, 1,374 category C images, six extreme pornographic images, and 50 prohibited images.
Prosecutor Matt Knight stated that Negus had previously said in online messages that his age preference was eight to 11 year olds.
The court was told that Negus had the images between 2003 and 2023.
The judge described the images as including babies and infants being sexually abused.
Negus was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 20 months, and must complete 180 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation days.
He was ordered to pay £660 in costs, was subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, notification requirements, and his devices are to be destroyed.
