BENJAMIN MARSHALL
At a three-day trial held at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court in August 2025, Benjamin Marshall, 41, was found guilty of engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship and sexual assault on a female.
The court heard evidence relating to his conduct during the relationship, which prosecutors said caused significant distress and fear.
Following the guilty verdicts, Marshall was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on 23 February 2026.
He was handed: • 16 months’ imprisonment • 10 years on the Sex Offenders Register • A 10-year restraining order protecting the victim • A victim surcharge of £187 The restraining order prohibits Marshall from contacting the woman directly or indirectly, including through social media or third parties.
He is also banned from attending addresses where she is known to be and must immediately withdraw if accidental contact occurs.
The order will remain in place until February 2036.
The court was told that the measures are designed to protect the victim from further harassment or fear of violence.
Under the terms of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, Marshall must comply with notification requirements for the next decade.
The case has now concluded, although there remains the possibility of appeal.
Authorities continue to stress the importance of reporting controlling or coercive behaviour, reminding the public that such offences are serious crimes and can result in imprisonment.
