MAN WHO REPEATEDLY ATTACKED HIS PARTNER JAILED
A man who inflicted severe violence on his partner has received a prison sentence.Kieran Bond, aged 22 and without a fixed address, committed his first assault on his most recent partner last June during a visit to Blackpool, where he struck her with a punch.
The case also revealed multiple other abuse incidents, including kicking and punching her at her residence in Lincoln, and threatening her with a knife after forcing her to lift her top.
Lincoln Crown Court sentenced Bond to four years and five months in prison on Monday, following his guilty plea to eight charges related to events that occurred between June and November 2024.
These charges comprised three counts of actual bodily harm, as well as assault, intentional strangulation, witness intimidation, controlling and coercive behavior, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
During the trial, it was disclosed that Bond had struck his partner’s foot with a hammer and, on another occasion, had placed his arm around her throat for a brief period of about a minute or two.
The victim stated in a court statement that she "genuinely thought she might pass out" during the choking incident.
However, she has subsequently retracted many of her original allegations against Bond, and she opted not to read her victim impact statement aloud.
It was also reported that Bond exerted pressure on her to withdraw her accusations and contacted her three times by phone afterward.
In mitigation, Paul O'Shea explained that Bond acknowledged his use of violence.
He described Bond's difficult background, mentioning an unstable upbringing and periods in care.
Mr O'Shea added that Bond had engaged in some constructive activities while in prison, such as participating in various courses.
Judge Simon Hirst addressed Bond directly, highlighting his prior offenses involving vulnerable women.
"You have pleaded guilty to deeply unpleasant offences of violence against your partner," the judge remarked.
He emphasised that Bond's actions had caused considerable fear and concern on multiple occasions.
