JOHN WILLIAM FORREST'S SHOCKING ATTACK IN ROSYTH LEAVES FAMILY FURIOUS OVER LENIENT FINE

The father of a young boy who was violently taken from his bed and subjected to a brutal assault has voiced his deep frustration and outrage over the relatively lenient penalty handed down to the perpetrator, John William Forrest. The disturbing incident took place on February 2 of the previous year at Forrest's residence in Rosyth, where he was found guilty of forcibly dragging the six-year-old child from his bed. According to court records, Forrest seized the boy by his body and neck, causing visible injuries and significant emotional trauma.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court in January, Forrest, aged 33 and the partner of the boy’s mother, was sentenced to pay a fine of £450. However, the court ordered that this amount be paid in monthly installments of £50, a decision that has sparked outrage among the boy’s family and the local community. The child's father, who has chosen to remain anonymous for safety reasons, criticized the punishment as being insufficient and described it as “an inconvenience, not a deterrent.” He expressed concern that the low-rate repayment plan would not impose enough financial or emotional pressure on Forrest, thereby failing to serve as a meaningful consequence for such a serious assault.

Further complicating the situation, social services had become involved following the discovery of the injuries sustained by the boy. These injuries were identified after the child returned from an overnight stay at Forrest’s address, raising questions about the safety and well-being of the child while in Forrest’s care. The father conveyed feelings of guilt and worry, particularly about the possibility of Forrest re-offending. He revealed that the sheriff’s conditions, which might have included restrictions or supervision, had been dropped, fueling fears that Forrest could still approach or harm the child again.

The emotional toll on the family has been profound. The father stated that his son will carry the memory of this traumatic event forever and that he is actively fighting to secure full custody of his child to prevent any future contact with Forrest. The incident has shocked the local community, with many expressing disbelief and disappointment over the perceived leniency of the sentence. The father has announced plans to request a review of Forrest’s penalty by the prosecution, emphasizing that the current punishment does not adequately reflect the severity of the assault and the harm caused to the young boy.
