VIOLENT THUG VICIOUSLY ATTACKED PARTNER ON HOLIDAY IN TURKEY
A man from Blackwood, Jason Watson, aged 26, violently attacked his partner while on holiday in Turkey following a period of drinking, and then assaulted her again after returning home.The victim, fleeing her residence in her underwear and calling emergency services, was confronted by Watson who then assaulted police officers during his arrest, necessitating the use of PAVA spray.
Watson's attack caused visible injuries to his partner's face and hands, with her face bloodied from the assault.
Prosecutor Josh Scouller explained that Watson restricted the victim's movement, punching, kicking, and threatening her to prevent her from leaving.
Although she managed to escape the residence, she was only dressed in her underwear.
Subsequently, she was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries including a head wound, bleeding in her right eye, bruising, marks to her ear and neck, and a swollen face covered with blood.
Police officers responded to the scene, and when attempting to arrest Watson, he exhibited aggressive and abusive behavior.
He pushed one officer to the ground, and PAVA spray was deployed to help restrain him.
During the struggle, he was taken to the ground but kicked an officer in the face, injuring his nose.
Watson, of Albany Road, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assaulting an emergency worker.
It was revealed that he had prior convictions for dangerous driving and taking a vehicle without permission, for which he had received a suspended sentence.
At the time of the incidents, he was on licence.
The court sentenced Watson to three years and three months in prison.
Additionally, he was granted a five-year restraining order and disqualified from driving for 12 months following his release.
