DRUNKEN MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING NON-HARASSMENT ORDER AFTER LEAVING EX FEARFUL
A drunken man, Fraser Barnes, was jailed after he failed to stay away from his ex-partner, leaving her fearful. The incident occurred when Barnes was outside the woman's flat, banging on the door and shouting, which prompted the victim to call the police due to her fear he might force his way in.
The police apprehended Barnes while he was intoxicated on patrol, and he responded with 'is that right, aye' when cautioned.
He appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on May 7, where he pleaded guilty to breaching a three-year non-harassment order set two months earlier, which prohibited any contact with the woman.
The offence was considered aggravated by the abuse of an ex-partner.
His solicitor stated that Barnes was under the influence of alcohol and recognized his responsibility to comply with court orders, acknowledging that custody was an option.
Barnes was also serving a supervised release order for a previous conviction.
Sheriff James Spy highlighted Barnes's long record of domestic offending and breaches of court orders, sentencing him to 12 months in jail with an additional 120-day sentence for prior offences.
The non-harassment order will remain until 2026.
