BORDERS MAN ACCUSED OF SEXUAL COMMUNICATIONS WITH GIRL HE BELIEVED TO BE 14

A 49-year-old man has been accused of sexual communications with a girl he believed to be aged 14 over a three-month period.

Douglas Watkins of Cheviot Road, Hawick, appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court where he made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.

The offence is alleged to have been committed in Hawick between September and this month.

Watkins was released on bail with special conditions.
