DEBORAH HATELEY CAUSES DISTURBANCE IN DUNFERMLINE AND STRUGGLES WITH POLICE

Deborah Hateley, aged 40, was involved in a public disturbance at the residence of her former partner in Dunfermline, which led to her resisting arrest and fighting with police officers. The incident took place on April 27 at Osprey Crescent, where Hateley, who was residing in a women's aid refuge at the time, behaved in a hostile and aggressive manner. She entered the property without permission, shouted, swore, and displayed violent behavior.

Hateley admitted to officers that she resisted, obstructed, and hindered three police personnel, and she fought violently with them during her arrest. The depute fiscal explained that Hateley and her former partner had been separated for two years. The confrontation began around 9:30 pm when Hateley arrived at her ex-partner's house, became irritated, and started shouting and swearing. Police arrived shortly after, approximately at 10:15 pm, and proceeded to arrest her.

Despite being detained, Hateley initially refused to acknowledge her arrest and fought the officers, swinging her arms and legs in opposition. Her defense lawyer stated that she was under considerable stress at the time, having been living in a refuge and experiencing a disruption in her communication with her children. During the incident, neighbors stepped in to help calm the escalating situation. The sheriff later fined Hateley £300 as a punishment for her unruly conduct.
