CUMBERNAULD MAN JAILED FOR HORRIFIC VIOLENCE AND RAPE CAMPAIGN
A man named David Roberston, aged 28, from Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire, was convicted of a series of heinous crimes.He was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder and two counts of rape involving women he knew.
According to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), three women endured terrifying abuse at his hands, which included threats, derogatory comments, and assaults.
His abuse was conducted both in private and in public settings, including a bar and on a train.
One victim described brutal attacks with weapons such as a knife and a metal dog chain.
He further isolated and controlled victims by taking over their social media accounts and cutting them off from family and friends.
His criminal activities spanned various locations including Lanarkshire, East Lothian, and the Scottish Borders.
He was also convicted of seven charges in total, including two under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018, criminalizing a course of abusive behavior towards an ex-partner.
On February 6, 2025, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison by the High Court in Glasgow.
Non-harassment orders were also issued, banning him from contacting the victims indefinitely, and his name has been added to the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Prosecutor Katrina Parkes highlighted the bravery of the victims and urged others affected by similar crimes to come forward, emphasizing that justice was achieved through their courage.
