HAWICK MAN WHO ASSAULTED PARTNER FOLLOWING NIGHT-OUT JAILED
A 37-year-old man from Hawick, Daniel Keane, pleaded guilty to assaulting a named woman after being at the bingo at Wetherspoon on April 21.The court was told they returned home, consumed more alcohol, and an argument developed during which Keane pushed her and struck her on the mouth.
The sheriff considered background reports and ordered six months in prison, reduced from seven months due to his guilty plea.
He was also issued a Non-Harassment Order for two years involving the woman.
Sheriff Peter Paterson noted Keane's lack of sympathy for the victim's suffering and his attitude led to a custodial sentence.
