LECTURER ASKED STUDENT 'NOBODY SEES YOUR PHONE, RIGHT?' BEFORE TEACHING BAN
A college lecturer, Christopher Williams Davies, called a student “sweet cheeks” and “good girl” in exchanges which were seen by a professional conduct panel. The panel concluded that his messages with two students at Coleg y Cymoedd were inappropriate, sexual in nature, and amounted to serious misconduct.
In one exchange, WalesOnline reports.
Davies also sent suggestive messages and a picture of a chocolate bar on his lap, saying: “What’s it worth?’, ‘Persuade me’, ‘So what do I get?’, ‘You’re not trying very hard.
You can’t want this Freddo that much…’, ‘Interesting… What else do I get?’, ‘What else you got?’, ‘What could you give that you don’t have to buy?’, ‘You didn’t show me the photos like you promised’, ‘Why can’t I see them now?’, ‘Good girl’ and ‘Sweet cheeks’.
The exchange occurred between October 11, 2023, and November 22, 2023, and involved a student, identified as Learner A, receiving a chocolate bar.
He also sent messages to a second student, saying: “Could look at you all day ngl (not going to lie)” and “You’re making me very hot under the collar here”.
To another student, dubbed Learner B, he said: “Wow you really are incredible” and “these pics are getting addictive”.
The committee, which met remotely between January 2 and 22, 2026, found that these messages were sexual in nature and that giving Learner A a chocolate bar, along with the inappropriate messages, did not maintain professional boundaries.
As a result, Mr.
Davies was removed from the Register of Education Practitioners in the category of further education teacher and may not apply for restoration for two years from the hearing's decision, which was made public.
If he does not successfully apply for restoration, he will remain prohibited indefinitely.
He had the right to appeal to the High Court within 28 days of the decision.
