MAN FOLLOWED TEENS IN THE STREET AND PROTENDED TO TAKE PICTURES OF THEM
A man aged 52 from Dunfermline was brought before the sheriff court after an incident on Dunlin Drive involving two young girls.
Barry Purches, residing on Petrel Way, admitted that on September 17, 2020, he approached two 13-year-old girls, faked taking photographs of them with his phone, and then followed their movements.
His defence lawyer, Lee Qmsieh, told the court that Purches was experiencing issues related to drug misuse at the time and could not recall the incident clearly.
Sheriff Andrew Berry condemned his behaviour as entirely inappropriate, noting that the actions could have caused distress and trauma to the victims.
Purches, who has a substantial criminal record, apologized for his conduct.
The sheriff sentenced him to a restriction of liberty order lasting four months and a community payback order with eighteen months of supervision, to reflect the seriousness of the offence.
