DUNFERMLINE MAN JAILED FOR DRAGGING HIS PARTNER THROUGH THE STREET
A man named Andrew Gillies, aged 38, from Kirklands, Dunfermline, was sentenced to 11 months in jail for a violent assault on his partner. The court heard that Gillies attacked the woman on October 23 at her address in Dunfermline, grabbing her by the hair, pulling her head into a headlock, and dragging her along the street.
He also threatened a Good Samaritan who tried to intervene, shouting, swearing, and threatening violence.
Additionally, Gillies violated bail conditions by visiting the woman's home on November 29, despite being ordered not to approach her.
He visited her multiple times during the day, even after being told to leave at 5 pm, and was later found in the area around 9.50 pm.
Sheriff Alastair Brown described Gillies' behavior as "absolutely unacceptable" and "outrageous," emphasizing the controlling and isolating nature of his actions, which suggested he sought to dominate the victim with low empathy.
Gillies had previously admitted to assaulting the woman by seizing her by the hair and neck, and threatening her, which led to his current sentence.
The court condemned his behavior as completely unacceptable in modern society and highlighted the pattern of controlling behavior that motivated his actions.
