SHILDON MAN ADMITS UNLAWFUL WOUNDING OF PARTNER AND DAMAGING HER PHONE
A man from Shildon has pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding his partner and damaging her mobile phone, during a court hearing conducted via video link from Holme House Prison in Stockton.The defendant, Alan Atkinson, admitted to the charges related to an incident on June 9, where he damaged his partner's phone and caused her injuries.
Although he has admitted to these lesser charges, he still faces a potential trial on additional allegations, including a charge of controlling and coercive behavior within a relationship, during which it is alleged his partner was assaulted at least twice between January 2021 and June 2023.
Atkinson denied the more serious charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The court set a provisional trial date for November 19, with a further case management hearing scheduled for September 2.
Atkinson, aged 36 and residing on George Street, Shildon, remains in custody and will be present at the upcoming hearing.
