ADAM WYNN GROOMING SUSPECT FROM HUNTINGDON SENTENCED IN CAMBRIDGE
In March 2018, a serious case involving a man from Huntingdon who attempted to meet a young girl he had groomed online was brought to light, resulting in a significant legal outcome.The individual, identified as Adam Wynn-Greaves, residing on Thames Road in Huntingdon, faced multiple charges related to his online activities and his attempt to meet a minor in person.
Wynn-Greaves pleaded guilty to several serious offenses, including meeting a girl under the age of 16 following grooming, as well as three counts of making indecent images.
His actions prompted a court hearing at Cambridge Crown Court, where he was sentenced on Thursday, March 15.
During the proceedings, Wynn-Greaves was handed a 20-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time immediately but would be under supervision and subject to certain conditions.
Additionally, he was issued a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) that will remain in effect for ten years, restricting his activities and contact with minors.
He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a decade, requiring him to regularly update authorities about his whereabouts and activities.
The court heard that Wynn-Greaves, aged 41, had used social media platforms such as KIK to communicate with young girls online.
The investigation revealed that on September 14 of the previous year, he initiated contact with a girl named Roxanne, who disclosed that she was 15 years old at the start of their conversation.
When asked if he was concerned about her age, Wynn-Greaves dismissed her concerns, stating that “it was just a number.” The conversation between Wynn-Greaves and Roxanne quickly turned sexual, with the man asking for explicit pictures and sending a photograph of himself.
The pair had arranged to meet in Huntingdon the following day.
However, Wynn-Greaves’s plans were thwarted when he was confronted by a man who called the police, leading to his arrest.
Following his arrest, authorities seized Wynn-Greaves’s phone and iPad.
An examination of these devices uncovered a disturbing collection of indecent images—163 in total.
The images were categorized by severity: 73 were classified as category C, 47 as category B, and 43 as the most severe, category A.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat online grooming and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation.
