MAN CONVICTED OF EXPOSURE PLACED ON SEX OFFENDERS’ REGISTER
A 64-year-old man found guilty of exposing himself at Northampton Train Station has received a sentence of 20 weeks in prison and will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of seven years.Kevin Lovell faced charges of one count of exposure under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 following his journey from London to Black Lion Hill station on August 31, 2025.
During the early morning hours, Lovell targeted a solitary woman sitting on a platform waiting for her train, inappropriately touching himself and exposing himself as he approached her.
The woman sought refuge in the disabled toilets, but Lovell continued to follow her and repeatedly knocked on the door.
A security officer intervened, removing him from the area.
Despite this, Lovell later returned to the platform and attempted to engage with the woman again, making her feel uncomfortable.
When security staff tried to step in once more, Lovell displayed aggressive behavior towards them.
Police were called to the scene, and he was quickly detained.
At Northampton Crown Court on Monday, February 9, Lovell, who was without a fixed address, admitted to the charge of exposure and was sentenced to six months in jail, with a subsequent requirement to register as a sex offender for seven years.
Detective Constable Zach Boynton from CID West, overseeing the case, expressed gratitude to the victim for her support, saying: “Her cooperation was instrumental in securing Kevin Lovell’s conviction.
We treat reports of exposure very seriously, as there is a risk that offenders may escalate their behavior, and this case highlights the significant consequences for those who behave unlawfully in this way.”
