NORTHAMPTON MAN TOBY COUCILL GUILTY OF RAPING TEENAGE GIRL IN WEEDON ROAD
A 19-year-old man has been found guilty of raping a girl following an incident in Weedon Road, Northampton.Toby Coucill, formerly from Northampton, committed the crime in the early hours of 9th August 2025, targeting a girl in her late teens.
Following the assault, the victim courageously left the scene and contacted Northamptonshire Police.
Coucill was subsequently arrested and charged with rape and two counts of sexual assault.
During police interviews, Coucill initially denied any sexual activity but later altered his account, claiming consensual sex after being confronted with forensic evidence.
The verdict came after a two-week trial that began on 26th January at Northampton Crown Court, where the jury found him guilty of all charged offences.
He is scheduled to be sentenced at the same court on 20th March.
Detective Constable Chantal Carrington from Northamptonshire Police’s SOLAR Team praised the bravery of the victim.
“First of all I would like to commend the young woman in this case for her unwavering courage," DC Carrington said.
“She had to take the stand at court and talk about what happened to her and I am so proud of her." “The shame does not lie with her but with Toby Coucill.” The survivor wanted to publicly share the outcome to encourage other victims of similar crimes to speak out and seek support.
DC Carrington emphasized the dedication of her team in bringing sexual offenders to justice and maintaining high standards of victim care.
The survivor added, “This result is a demonstration of the amazing work."
