HELL BEHIND CLOSED DOORS: POLICE STEP IN AS CHILDREN ‘FEARED FOR THEIR SAFETY’ IN ABUSE PROBE

Police and social services have launched an urgent child-protection investigation after disturbing allegations emerged from a Birmingham family home, according to official Children’s Trust documents.

Paperwork seen by this publication reveals that officers made a referral in late December after concerns were raised about the safety of several young children, including a 13-year-old girl and her younger siblings.

According to the assessment, the children’s mother told authorities she was at risk of ongoing domestic abuse and that the children themselves had been subjected to repeated physical assaults inside the home.

The allegations include claims that the father regularly struck the children, dragged them across the floor and caused visible bruising and red marks.

The documents state that the children disclosed being hurt by their father, with one child reporting that an object had been thrown at them, causing injury.

It is further alleged that when questioned previously, the children were pressured to dismiss what had happened.

Professionals involved in the case recorded that the children were described as distressed, fearful and unsafe in their own home.

One of the children is documented as having multiple diagnosed disabilities, including developmental delay and chromosomal abnormalities, while another is undergoing assessment for autism.

Authorities noted that these additional vulnerabilities significantly increased safeguarding concerns.

Following the referral, a joint Section 47 child-protection enquiry was launched between police and Birmingham Children’s Trust to assess the immediate risk to the children.

A formal safety plan was put in place, including instructions for family members to contact police immediately if the father attempted to approach the mother or children.

Social workers were tasked with speaking to each child individually, gathering further information, and coordinating with schools, health services and police as part of a full family assessment under the Children Act 1989.

The stated aim of the intervention, according to the paperwork, is to ensure the children can grow up in a home environment where they feel “happy, safe and secure”.

The police investigation remains ongoing.
