Oxford man jailed for knife attack on girlfriend after finding naked nemesis

OXFORD MAN JAILED FOR KNIFE ATTACK ON GIRLFRIEND AFTER FINDING NAKED NEMESIS

Zion Yearwood, aged 22, received a prison sentence of two years and five months following an assault on his girlfriend involving knives that resulted in her serious injuries.

The court stated that on August 13 of the following year, Yearwood forcibly broke into the property by smashing the back door with either a brick or a rock.

Inside, he found his half-naked rival fleeing upstairs through a window, while the rival was only wearing underwear.

Recognizing him from previous encounters, Yearwood demanded to know his location.

When the girlfriend attempted to intervene, Yearwood punched her in the face.

He then pushed her aside, ascended to the upper floor wielding two knives, and severely struck her with one, causing the handle to detach from the blade and inflicting a 2cm cut, which was later glued at hospital.

The police arrived after being alerted by a third person.

Yearwood pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm, threatening someone with a knife in a private setting, and criminal damage.

The injured woman expressed that she feared she might be killed and that her daughter would lose her mother.

The judge acknowledged Yearwood's emotional distress during the incident, viewing it as a crime of passion.

He was sentenced to serve over two years in prison and was issued a restraining order to prevent any contact with his ex-girlfriend.
